Eligibility

• Any artist over 18 may submit.
• Acceptable media: All types of pastel including soft pastels, hard pastels, oil pastels, ink pastels, water-based pastels, Conté crayons or sticks and sanguine and other dry mediums that are similar in their application including charcoal and pencil.
• Maximum of six works submitted. Maximum of four works selected.
• Work must have been completed during the twelve months prior to the exhibition and not have been exhibited elsewhere.
• Works should not be larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension.
• All works must be exhibition-ready. Works should be sufficient to withstand mirror plating for hanging purposes.
• All work must be glazed.
• No hooks are required and there should be no projections whatsoever from the back of the works.
• Metal frames and clip frames are inadmissible. Glazed works with unprotected glass edges are inadmissible. Diffused picture glass is unacceptable. Frames and mounts of an unusual colour, size or design may prejudice the chance of selection.
• All work must be for sale. Minimum price: £300.
• The price of works must include 45%+VAT commission.

Entry Fee

• The submission fee is £20 per work for standard entries and £14 per work for artists aged 35 or under.

Delivery & Collection

• Packaging from delivered works cannot be retained and must be taken away at the point of delivery.
• We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being returned.

• Any work uncollected on the specified collection date/s will be stored at a separate location and the artist will be charged a storage fee.

Selection

• There is a single stage selection process for the 2023 exhibition. All artworks will be judged virtually after submissions close.
• If selected artworks arrive damaged, with unacceptable framing, or size discrepancies from the original submission, these will be rejected.
• All rejected artworks will need to be collected from Mall Galleries by the artist at their expense.
• The Selection Committee is formed of artist members of the Society and is rotated annually.
• Please note that selectors' decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback.

International Entrants

• If you are not a UK resident and your work is sold at the exhibition you have a responsibility to register and account for UK VAT with H.M. Revenue & Customs at www.hmrc.gov.uk (HM Revenue & Customs Reference: Notice 700/1).

• Acceptable media: Watercolour or water-soluble mediums including watercolour, acrylic, ink or gouache (excluding water-soluble oils) painted on paper or paper based support.
• Work painted on Canvas or directly on to wood, glass or metal will not be accepted.
• Works must have been completed within the last two years and should not have been previously shown in London.
• Submission fee: £20 per work (or £14 per work for artists aged 35 or under).
• A Maximum of six works may be submitted.
• A Maximum of four works may be selected.
• All paintings must be well presented, suitably framed (no metal or clips frames are permitted) and glazed with picture glass ( Perspex, and/or other similar transparent acrylic materials are not acceptable ).
• Works must not be larger than 2.4m high and 1.5m wide including the frame. The Council have the right to exclude paintings that are over this limit.
• Frames must be robust enough to withstand mirror plating for hanging purposes. No hooks are required and there should be no projections whatever from the back of frames. This is to prevent damage to other works.
• All work must be for sale. Minimum price: £350.

The price of works must include 45%+VAT commission.

Entry Restrictions

• Work must have been completed in the last two years and must not have been previously exhibited in London.
• Dimensions should be no more than 240cms in any direction

Delivery & Collection

• Packaging from delivered works cannot be retained and must be taken away at the point of delivery.
• We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being returned.

Any work uncollected on the specified collection date/s will be stored at a separate location and the artist will be charged a storage fee.

Selection

• The Selection Committee is formed of artist members of the Institute.
• There is a single stage selection process for the 2023 exhibition. All artworks will be judged virtually after submissions close.
• Only artworks selected for the exhibition need to be delivered to the gallery on the specified receiving day.
• Any artwork or frames deemed oversized, or in any other way unsuitable for exhibition, will not be accepted.
• All unaccepted artworks will need to be collected from the gallery.
• Please note that selectors' decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback.

International Entrants

• Artists from outside the UK may need to register for VAT, please check with HM Revenue and Customs: https://www.gov.uk

Eligibility

• The Society welcomes paintings, drawings and original prints - including digital/iPad prints. Sculpture and photography are not admissible.
• Work must have been completed in the last three years and not been exhibited in London previously.
• If for sale, works must have a minimum sale price of £300 (framed prints: £180, unframed prints: £120 - buyers will not be charged for postage and packaging of unframed prints, so please ensure the price of unframed prints allows for this).
• The price of works for sale must include 45%+VAT commission.
• Although the exhibition is an excellent opportunity to sell work, works may be listed as not for sale – if your work is not for sale, please input the price as ‘0’ when prompted.
• A maximum of 4 works can be submitted for selection. A maximum of 3 works will be selected.
• Works should not be larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension.
• Note that artists accepted for exhibition will be invited to advertise portrait commissions through our Commissions service, on which a commission will be payable.
• If your work is on the theme of 'Clothing', for The RP Award, please elaborate in the artwork description box.
